Steven C.F. Anderson is President and Executive Producer of APL, Anderson Productions Ltd. Steve is a television and web content producer, documentary filmmaker, and communications consultant. He has served as a creative force behind many commercial, cable and public television projects. Steve has also distinguished himself as a consultant who specializes in guiding and collaborating with nonprofit organizations, unions, governmental agencies and international NGOs. Steve also serves as Managing Director of the nonprofit website, InfrastructureUSA.org, focused upon public policy issues and citizen engagement.
Prior to founding APL in 1983, Steve held reporter/editor/producer positions at Good Morning America, ABC News, The Associated Press and NYC local TV channels 5, 9, and 11 -- in addition to being a radio reporter at several stations. Steve was a member of the original Qube team at Warner Communications, which produced the first model for MTV and as a consultant for TWA, where he proposed the concept for The Travel Channel.
During his career, Steve has been involved in dozens of local and national television programs, first as host, and later producing programs that aired on ABC, NBC, PBS, TLC, Court TV, USA Network, HBO, ESPN, and the award-winning series The UNICEF Hour on The Discovery Channel. When APL merged with Globalvision during the mid-1990s, Steve launched the Emmy Award-nominated PBS series Rights & Wrongs: Human Rights Television. He also produced the PBS special, Region at Risk, introducing the Regional Plan Association's Third Regional Plan, as well as specials for MSNBC, Lifetime and FOX. APL produced the Emmy-nominated, PBS documentary about urban planning, Community Builder: The Life & Legacy of J.C. Nichols.
APL is committed to producing programs with an emphasis on New York City and has created many public affairs television programs focused on local issues including: City Council Forum, a four-year series live from City Hall; the first televised mayoral debate in 2005, carried on NY1; and two monthly talk series on CUNY-TV, The Urban Agenda and CityWide.
APL currently serves as communications consultant and media strategist for Teamsters Local 237 and produces short films focused on the varied work of its member public employees. Steve produces the cable television series LOCAL 237: On the Air, and the WWRL radio series Reaching Out, both hosted by union president Gregory Floyd, as well as content development for Local 237's award-winning website. Among APL's other union clients are the Utility Workers Union of America and the Long Island Federation of Labor.
APL has produced several films with nonprofit organizations including: Safe Horizon, Community Service Society, Food Bank for NYC, Public Agenda, JCCA, Community Preservation Corporation, Westchester Institute for Human Development, Urban Assembly, Regional Plan Association, ACCION New York, NYC Departments of Environmental Protection and Housing, Preservation & Development, Women's Commission / International Rescue Committee and UNICEF. APL's association with UNICEF dates back more than 25 years, including several consulting and production projects, with filming in Nepal, Ghana, and Guatemala.

Sam Shinn (Cinematographer) is an Emmy Award winning producer, director of photography and editor of documentaries focused on political and social issues. His work has been broadcast nationally and internationally in over fifteen countries for PBS, ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, BBC, CBC-Canada and all the major cable outlets. Sam's work has also been shown at the Tribeca Film Festival and the Sundance Film Festival. Sam is APL's long-time director of photography.
Kevin Cloutier (Cinematographer) is a documentary and lighting cameraman based in New York City with more than twenty years experience in broadcast television and independent documentaries. Kevin has worked and prospered in some of the most demanding news and documentary situations in the world, from New York City to Mongolia and Haiti. Kevin has worked as a cinematographer with APL for several years.
Agatha Malacos (Associate Producer) is an Emmy Award nominated associate producer who has worked on several television programs, including Good Morning America and 20/20 at ABC News. At APL, her credits include Court TV's Unleashed: Marjorie Knoller & Robert Noel, and the hour-long PBS film, Community Builder: The Life & Legacy of J.C. Nichols. Agatha has had a long association with APL and is a key production team member.
Joe Gentle (Content Coordinator) has worked with APL since 2009, primarily on the InfrastructureUSA web community where he manages site content. Joe is also a video producer and digital marketing strategist specializing in environmental initiatives and multi-language productions. His past clients include UNESCO, IUCN, the Roza Otunbayeva Initiative and the Italian Development Cooperation, along with numerous businesses, non-profits and government offices on three continents (and counting).
